Bloom San Diego: The East Village Boutique

Bloom San Diego is a brand-new boutique in East Village, showcasing lots of very cute designs! What makes this boutique special is that they feature several local designers, along with many natural materials and even a “Green Rack Program“.

The Green Rack concept allows you to recycle via consigning your items, with a 50/50 split upon sale. So, if there’s something in your closet that you just don’t wear, from basic H&M stuff to the pricey Chanel items, this store can help you ensure that someone else can enjoy it too! And, if you like vintage, they feature brands including D&G, Tory Burch, and Marc Jacobs. So, come to buy or to sell!

Above & Below: The Green Rack: good for the planet, good for the wallet!

In addition to the Green Rack items, there are many new items to be found inside Bloom San Diego. Much of the clothing is made by alternative designers and local artists and brands include: David Kahn, Chaudry, Mia Brazilia, and Love This Life.

Bloom San Diego believes that “good energy is fashionable” and I fully agree! My favorite items inside the store included the jewelry and all the pretty boutique gift ideas. Also, Becky (the lady working) was very friendly & helpful, good vibes!

San Diego Shopping: Brandy Melville in Pacific Beach

Several months back, I was doing a routine run-through at Urban Outfitters in Pacific Beach. After purchasing a few new things, I stepped out and was about to hop back on my bike when something caught my eye. A brand-new store right next door that appeared to have cute things galore (rhyme not intended, but we’ll leave it as is). Sure enough, after doing a thorough inspection, my suspicions were proven correct: the Brandy Melville store has many great items!

The overall chill aesthetic of Brandy Melville blends perfectly with the laid-back Pacific Beach community and there is certainly enough female clientele around to make this store a success. The products range from cut-off denim shorts to printed tees and flowy tops. My favorite part about the goods is the super soft material that many items are made from. There are also some boho jewelry pieces and several purses to pick from. In all, there’s plenty of great stuff to get!

Brandy Melville is an international company, with locations ranging from Paris and Amsterdam to Munch and Berlin. The San Diego store can be found at 4516 Mission Boulevard, between Garnet & Felspar St. For further information, call (858) 255 8822 or view the entire collection & lookbook online by  clicking here.

Shopping Tip: While the prices are displayed with a British pound symbol in front, it is just for effect since the specified amount is actually in US dollars.

Pacific Beach: Tuesday Farmers’ Market

Grocery shopping for green goodness in the sunshine, by the beach, as lovely people hand you samples of deliciousness from all sides? It doesn’t get much better than that! Except, it actually does. When you shop at a farmers’ market, you are able to get the freshest organic fruits & veggies from local sources while supporting a sustainable way of life. Why get tangerines and apples that have been grown 8 states over and shipped thousands of miles when you can hit up a Farmers Market to get some that were grown practically in your own backyard?

Yesterday, I got a chance to check out the PB Farmers’ Market and I was impressed with the quality of the goods. This market takes place between Garnet & Bayard St. every Tuesday from 2 to 6:30pm, rain or shine. If your looking for a local spot to get some  eats, check out the sustainable selection at this market.

Highlights from the Pacific Beach Farmers’ Market:

                                                               Fresh Wheatgrass

Fresh Baby Carrots, Grown in Oceanside

Selection of Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

                                                             Bunch of Radishes

                                                Strawberries, Grown in Fallbrook

                                                                     Flowers Galore

Selection of  Sprouts from Suzie’s Farm

                                                                   Cute Little Cacti

There was so much good stuff that it was a bit hard to narrow down exactly what I wanted to take home with me! However (after much browsing) I was finally able to figure out what will end up on my table. Here are my finals food picks:

              Tangerines                        Baby Broccoli                               Baby Carrots

         Strawberries                   Country French Bread                      Spinach

Muffin & Macaroons                   Brownie Bites             Orange Scone & Croissants

While I was at the PB Farmers’ Market, I was able to pick up a new copy of Edible San Diego (a unique & incredible magazine highlighting San Diego farmers and restaurants using locally grown produce). If you want to learn more about local & sustainable food, I highly recommend Edible San Diego as a source! Click here to visit them online.

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics: Fashion Valley

Lush has long been one of my favorite places to get face masks and bath products, so you can imagine my excitement when they opened up their location in Fashion Valley last December. With over 700 locations throughout the world, it was beyond time we had access to the goodies! Lush prides itself on using only the freshest organic fruits & vegetables, ethically sourced oils, and sustainable ingredients in all their products. From sugar scrubs and bubble bars to the best-smelling soaps and face masks, Lush covers the entire spectrum of beauty needs.

Lush believes in “long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world  with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again”.

Many products require no packaging, such as the massage bars, bath bars and solid shampoos. When packaging is necessary, like in the case of face masks and body gels, Lush creates it to be fully recyclable and reusable. Bring in 5 empty, clean black pots to receive a complimentary Fresh Face Mask, a gift from Lush for doing your part to save the world. Once you bring em’ back, the empty black pots are then recycled to make more packaging or to be re-used as art material.

Here are some things I picked up on my last venture to Lush in Fashion Valley:

Of the above, my favorites were the Cupcake Face Mask : (Rhassoul Mud, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Powder, Peppermint, Spearmint, Sandalwood Oils),  Rose Argon Body Conditioner : (Fresh Spring Water, Almond + Brazil Nut Oil, Vanilla Pod Infusion, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Goji Berry Juice, Rose, Lemon Oil, Cupuacu    Butter, Cypress Leaf) and the Bubblegum Lip Scrub: (Sugar, Jojoba Oil, Flavor).

This Honey Trap Lip Balm (Oat Milk, Almond Oil, White Chocolate, Shea Butter, Honey, Vanilla, Sweet Wild Orange Oil)  is also def one of my personal favorites!

In addition to carrying some of the freshest cosmetic products around, Lush is known for their incredible customer service. You can try any and all products within the store so that you know exactly what you’re getting before you buy it! The Lush staff is always super helpful and they not only recommend the best products for you skin type and needs, but also give in-store facials + treatments.

Lush is located inside of Fashion Valley Mall, at 7007 Friars Road. For further information, call (619) 688 9736 or visit Lush online by simply clicking here.
